About Osteopathy Osteopaths recognise that much of the pain and disability we suffer stems from abnormalities in our bodies structure and function. Osteopaths diagnose and treat problems involving muscles, nerves, ligaments and joints to help the body's natural healing ability. Who can be treated People of all ages benefit from Osteopathy, babies, infants, teenagers, adults and the elderly What does the treatment involve The practitioner will begin by taking an extensive case history, followed by a thorough physical examination to determine the causes of your discomfort. A full explanation of the diagnoses and potential outcomes will be given to you before treatment begins. Treatment involves continuous feedback between patient and practitioner. Gentle manual techniques such as articulation, stretching, massage, manipulation, and visceral or cranial techniques if required. If patients don’t want to be ‘clicked’ during treatment then other techniques are used by the practitioner. At the end of the treatment the practitioner may give you a few simple beneficial exercises to practise.
